SEMINAR INFORMATION

Seminars are generally conducted in our manufacturing facility with a maximum of ten (10) attendees, however our normal classes have six (6) attendees. They are normally held in November, due to cost savings and availability of hotel rooms, and most companies find they are slowing with the year end coming making it possible to allow people to attend. If there is enough demand we will schedule classes at other times of the year or in your plant.

Call or email us at seminar@turnbowindustries.com for details.

PRODUCTION/SETUP CLASS

The Production/Setup Class is usually scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. This class is designed for production and setup personnel, and covers the following topics:
  • How does RF weld plastic?
  • Types of material: What types of material will react to RF ?
  • Types of buffer materials: from Bakelite to Teflon, and more exotic types. Cost, availability and durability are discussed.
  • Die Types: Brass and Aluminum, steel rule, tear seal, articulated, and others are covered topics such as: How much step should a Tearseal die have? What's the difference between Tearseal and Feathered Dies?
  • Setup: Hands on experience with different type of setups, from Flop Guides to Machine Loading Fixtures.
  • Problem solving: What constitutes a good weld? What steps should be taken to repair an Arc? How to repair a damaged die, what tools are needed and when to send it out for repair.

MAINTENANCE CLASS

The Maintenance Class is normally held Wednesday through Friday. It gets to the component level of troubleshooting RF Welders, and covers the following topics:
  • Safety: the RF Welder is capable of storing over 10,000 volts for years! How do you safely enter the cabinet and discharge any stored energy. If we do nothing else, teaching safety is our first goal.
  • Identification of components: We identify what the components are, as well as what they do, how they fail, and how to test them.
  • Theory of Operation:
Breaking a machine into its four (4) basic sub assemblies:
    • Control
    • Oscillator
    • Arc Suppression
    • Press and transmission lines
Learning what each assembly does, and what symptoms they may display when they fail.

  • Understanding schematics, how to read and use them.
  • Troubleshooting technique: Where do you start the problem solving? Learning how to half-split your problem to cut troubleshooting time in half.
  • Hands on training, working on machines with problems.
